Science Po Emile Boutmy Scholarship for International Students 2024

The Emile Boutmy scholarship was created by Sciences Po. It was named after the founder of Sciences Po (1871), to welcome the very best international students from countries outside the European Union. This scholarship is usually given to students whose profiles match the admissions priorities of Sciences Po and individual course requirements.

The Emile Boutmy scholarship funds are obtained from the generous support of its sponsors (companies, foundations, benefactors) who are eager to allow the most deserving international students to study at Sciences Po. Private sponsors can be in direct contact with scholarship holders during officially organized events.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

To qualify for the scholarship, students must be:

  1. First-time applicants
  2. From a non-European Union state
  3. Those whose households do not file taxes within the European Union
  4. Those who have been admitted to the Undergraduate or Master’s program
  5. Required Language: English
Students who are not eligible are:
  1. Candidates who have dual citizenship, including an EU citizenship
  2. Candidates for the Joint Master in Journalism and International Affairs
  3. Swiss and Norwegian applicants, since they may be entitled to CROUS scholarships
  4. Candidates from Quebec for master’s degree (since they may take advantage of sliding scale fees the same as European applicants). Candidates from Quebec for a bachelor’s degree are eligible
  5. Ph.D. program students (thesis)
  6. Exchange students
  7. Candidates for the 1-year Master’s programs
  8. Candidates applying via the French graduate admission procedure
  9. Bachelor dual degree candidates (unless as part of a specific agreement)
  10. Master’s level dual-degree candidates, unless you are applying for one of the following programs:
  • the dual degree Sciences Po/Fudan University with a concentration in Europe-Asia in Global Affairs (only applicants with Chinese nationality)
  • the dual degree in Journalism Sciences Po/Columbia University
  • the dual degree Sciences Po/Peking University (only applicants with Chinese nationality)

Emile Boutmy Scholarship Coverage

Emile Boutmy Scholarship will provide the following benefits:

  • Undergraduate:

The Emile Boutmy scholarship is given to students enrolled in Sciences Po for their first year of studies.

The Emile Boutmy program can take several different forms:

  1. A tuition grant of €7,300 per year for the three years of the undergraduate program.
  2. A tuition grant of €7,300 per year for the three years of the undergraduate program, in addition to a grant to cover part of the cost of living of €5000 per year.
  3. A tuition grant of €3,000 per year for the three years of the undergraduate program.
  4. A tuition grant of €5,000 per year for the three years of the undergraduate program.

Please take note of the following:

A scholarship exceeding 19,000 euros may be given in exceptional circumstances to cover the cost of the three years of college. Scholarship amounts are decided during the different admission juries.

In case your academic year is not verified, your scholarship will be lost. If you are awarded a scholarship and choose to postpone your enrollment, your scholarship will be lost.

During the year abroad (third year of the undergraduate program): scholarship recipients will retain their tuition fee grant and additional cost of living grant (if applicable).

  • Masters:

The Emile Boutmy scholarship is given to students enrolled in Sciences Po for their first year of studies.

The Emile Boutmy program can take several different forms:

  1. A tuition grant of €5,000 per year for the two years of the Master.
  2. A grant of €10,000 per year to cover tuition fees for the two years of the Masters
  3. Required Documents for Sciences Po Émile Boutmy Scholarships

To apply for the Sciences Po Émile Boutmy Scholarships, candidates must be ready to submit the following documents;

  • For an application at the graduate level no additional documents must be attached, however, note that they might ask applicants to provide proof of income if necessary.
  • For an application at the undergraduate level, you must provide proof of income and documents explaining your family situation (e.g. income tax return for both parents, pay slips, divorce certificate, unemployment benefits, documents related to alimony, child support or retirement pensions, death certificate…).

How to Apply for Sciences Po Émile Boutmy Scholarships 2024

  • UNDERGRADUATE COLLEGE, FIRST-TIME APPLICANTS

Applicants from foreign secondary schools

Applicants from foreign secondary schools will need to specify that they are applying for the Émile Boutmy scholarship in the “Financial information” section of their Sciences Po application.

Applicants from French secondary schools

Applicants from French secondary schools must contact the Admission Office by completing this form, once their application has been validated on Parcoursup. They must also provide proof of income and documents explaining their family situation.

  • MASTER’S LEVEL, FIRST-TIME APPLICANTS

Masters level candidates must indicate that they are applying to the Émile Boutmy scholarship in the “Financial information” section of their Sciences Po application. They must provide proof of their income and documents explaining their family situation. Applicants must also attach, if applicable, their language test.

  • CANDIDATES CURRENTLY IN DEFERRAL (UNDERGRADUATE COLLEGE AND MASTER LEVEL)

Candidates who are currently in deferral can apply to the Émile Boutmy scholarship if they are in one of the following situations:

  1. they had applied and obtained this scholarship last year but lost it due to the deferral
  2. they did not apply for this scholarship in their application form
  3. In this situation, you need to apply for the Émile Boutmy scholarship by filling out this contact form before the deadline. This email should include your CV as well as the following information:
  4. Indicate the country in which you are resident for tax purposes 2 (optional)
  5. Number of financially dependent children in the household (including yourself)?
  6. Indicate the country in which you are resident for tax purposes 1
  7. Total annual income (in euros) of the household from the year before last
  8. Are any of your siblings currently pursuing higher education?

PLEASE NOTE

If you have already been refused the Émile Boutmy scholarship you can’t apply again.

They will only take into account complete files.

No application request will be accepted if received after the deadline.
