The ACU Industry PhD Scholarships Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for the scholarship, you must be:

  • Ready to enroll in a full-time program
  • Domestic and international candidates who meet ACU’s admission and scholarship entry requirements. International candidates must usually enroll full-time for visa purposes.
  • PhD candidates are recruited through a competitive process. Selection involves advertisement, application assessment, and interviews. Industry partners can participate in the selection process, including as members of the selection panel.

  • Relocation Allowance of $2,000 for international candidates.

Application Procedures for the ACU Industry PhD Scholarships

Method of Application

  • Find an Industry Partner: Engage with ACU to identify or bring your industry partner.
  • Industry Contribution: Industry partners can choose between fully funding the scholarship or co-funding with ACU.

  • Recruitment Process: Allow 3-6 months for candidate recruitment, including advertisement, application assessment, and (if applicable) visa processing.

  • Registered users can save courses, submit an inquiry directly to ACU, and start, save, and submit applications for their chosen courses.
  • This online application system is applicable for international students who intend to study full-time or part-time in Australia.
  • Students who are interested in studying fully online, Australian Permanent Residents, and Australian Citizens should apply through the ACU Domestic Admissions Office.

How Long Will the Award Last?

  • Up to 3.5 years

PhD candidates are recruited via a competitive process. All graduate research scholarships are advertised on the ACU graduate research scholarships webpage. Recommended allowing at least three months to recruit and select a domestic candidate and up to six months to recruit an international candidate for commencement.

The recruitment process will include:

  • Visa processing and travel to Australia to commence studies (for international candidates).

While ACU reserves the final decision on candidate admission and scholarship awarding when sponsoring an ACU Industry PhD Scholarship, the industry partner may nominate a representative to participate in the assessment process.

  2. ACU contribution also contributes a Tuition Fee Scholarship valued at $30,000 p.a. (2024).
  • Co-funded by industry
  1. The Industry partner contribution offers $20,000 p.a. for 3.5 years. This funding contributes to a stipend scholarship, including annual indexation and other allowances and benefits, as outlined in the ACU Research Training Program Scholarship Policy.
  2. The ACU contribution will match your stipend scholarship contribution with a further $20,000 p.a. for 3.5 years and include a Tuition Fee Scholarship valued at $30,000 p.a. (2024).
