Commonwealth PhD literacy for Study in the UK 2025/2026 operations are now open to Study in the United Kingdom. The input for this operation batch will commence study in 2025. Eligible transnational scholars with good academic qualifications are invited to apply for a chance to study in the UK.

Funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office( FCDO) A department of the Government of the United Kingdom, the literacy is targeted substantially at aspirants from least-developed countries and vulnerable countries. This is grounded on the bracket by OECD Development Assistance Committee( DAC), in the Commonwealth for full-time doctoral study at a UK university.

Commonwealth PhD literacy contributes to the development requirements of Commonwealth countries by supporting exploration that will have an experimental impact. They also enhance individual tutoring and exploration capacity leading to increased institutional capacity in academic and other sectors in Commonwealth countries, and will contribute to UK advanced education and exploration by attracting high-class transnational campaigners and encouraging links and collaboration, and are aimed at those who couldn’t else go to study in the UK.

Commonwealth PhD literacy is for high-quality graduates who have the eventuality to take over world-class exploration of an experimental nature and become influential leaders, preceptors, or experimenters in their home countries.

Eligibility Criteria for the Commonwealth PhD literacy 2025

  • Aspirants applying for the 2025/2026 Commonwealth PhD literacy must Be a citizen of or have been granted exile status by an eligible Commonwealth country, or be a British-defended Person.
  • Be a permanent resident in an eligible Commonwealth country.
  • Be available to start academic studies in the UK by the launch of the UK academic time in September 2025.
  • By September 2025, hold a first degree of at least upper alternate-class ( 21) honors standard, or a lower alternate-class degree and an applicable postgraduate qualification( generally a Master’s degree).
  • Not be registered for a PhD, or an MPhil leading to a PhD, at a UK university or in their home country before September/ October 2025.
  • Be unable to go to study in the UK without this education.
  • Have handed all supporting attestations in the needed format.

Benefits of the Commonwealth PhD literacy for Study in the UK 2025/2026

Each education provides:

  • Approved airfare : This is from the Scholar’s home country to the UK and return at the end of the award( the CSC won’t repay the cost of fares for dependants, nor the cost of peregrinations made before the award is verified).
  • Approved education freights: Full freights are covered by an agreement between the CSC and the UK university, and Scholars aren’t liable to pay for any part of the education figure.
  • Paycheck ( living allowance) at the rate of£ 1,347 per month, or£ 1,652 per month for those at universities in the London metropolitan area( rates quoted at current situations).
  • Warm apparel allowance, where applicable.
  • Paid mid-term visit( airfare) to the Scholar’s home country, unless they’ve claimed or intend to claim partner and/ or child allowances during their education or have entered a return airfare to their home country for fieldwork.
  • Family allowances, as follows( rates quoted at current situations).
  • If a Scholar is accompanied by their partner but has no children a partner allowance of£ 290 per month for a maximum period of nine months. Still, and£ 143 per month for the alternate and third child under the age of 16, if their partner and children are living with them at the same address in the UK( unless their partner is also in damage of education; other conditions also apply)
  • If a Scholar is accompanied by their partner and children a partner allowance of£ 290 per month child allowance of£ 290 per month for the first child.

Application Procedures for the Commonwealth PhD literacy 2025/2026

How- to Apply To apply for the Commonwealth PhD literacy 2025/2026:

  • Applications must be made to CSC using the CSC’s online operation system. Applications not submitted via the online operation system won’t be treated. Beforehand operation is advised.
  • As well as applying to the CSC, aspirants must apply to an elector.

 There are three types of electors invited to share in the PhD education program

  • National nominating agencies
  • Selected universities/universities bodies
  • Selected NGOs and charitable bodies.
