Ellison Scholarships for Studies at Oxford 2024

The application is now open for the 2025 Ellison Scholars Undergraduate Program. Ellison Scholars will actively contribute to these projects, using technology to solve global problems across EIT’s four humane endeavors. EIT, in partnership with the University of Oxford, is dedicated to cultivating future global technology innovators and leaders.

These fully funded scholarships will allow the candidate to join a team with other Scholars to work on important projects during the academic year and summers. The Graduate Ellison Scholar’s doctoral research focuses on an EIT project. Applicants must demonstrate how well their research interests and choice of DPhil (Ph.D.) course align with an ongoing EIT project.

Eligibility Requirements for the University of Oxford Ellison Scholarship 2024

To be considered for the University of Oxford Ellison Scholarship 2024, candidates are required to meet the following criteria:

  1. Scholars will fully commit to their studies at the University of Oxford and their ongoing project work with EIT.
  2. They will work hand in hand with EIT’s Faculty of Fellows and interdisciplinary teams working on four areas of scientific and technological innovation (health and medical science, food security and sustainable agriculture, climate change and clean energy, and government innovation and era of artificial intelligence).
  3. Have, or be on track to have, a secondary education/high school leaving qualification, diploma, or certificate accepted by the University of Oxford.
  4. The Ellison Scholars program is looking for candidates from around the world  each year, who are passionate about solving humanity’s most serious problems.
  5. Have met, or be on track to meet, the entry requirements for their chosen undergraduate degree (including minimum grade requirements).
  6. Any incoming undergraduate or DPhil student with an outstanding academic record and demonstration of the ability or potential to use technology to find innovative solutions to humanity’s biggest challenges.

Application Procedures for the University of Oxford Ellison Scholarship

You need to apply separately for this scholarship.

There are separate application routes to become an Undergraduate Ellison Scholar or a Graduate Ellison Scholar. Admission to the program requires both selection by the Ellison Institute and admission to the University of Oxford.

Interested candidates who desire to apply for the Ellison  Scholarship are to complete an online application and provide all the required documents on or before the application deadline. It is also important that all applications are submitted on time as late and incomplete applications will not be accepted.

Those seeking scholarships for undergraduate degrees starting in October 2025 must apply to be an Ellison Scholar between May-August 1 2024. Candidates looking to be funded for Graduate degrees starting in October 2025 must apply to be an Ellison Scholar between August and September 2024.

Successful admission to the program relies on selection by the scholarship program and by the University of Oxford. All candidates should apply first to the scholarship program through www.eit.org/ellisonscholars. Those who are selected will be invited to apply independently to the University of Oxford.

In Year One of the Ellison Scholars program, we recommend that you apply to Jesus College, Magdalen College, or St Catherine’s College — these colleges have supported the program since its inception. If your chosen course is not offered by any of those three colleges, you may choose another college.

  • How many scholarships are offered each year? 

The Ellison Scholars program will select approximately twenty students each year.
