Green Futures’ Postgraduate Taught Scholarships 2024/25

Applicants from Low and Lower Middle-Income Countries candidates are invited to take advantage of Green Futures’ Postgraduate Taught Scholarships to study one of the eligible Master’s programs in 2024/25 at the University of Exeter.

These awards aim to produce exceptional international candidates who would otherwise be unable to pursue their sustainable academic and career goals and who will increase the diversity and inclusion of our university community. The awards cover the full tuition fees and a stipend for living costs.

About the Green Futures’ Postgraduate Taught Scholarships 

As part of our commitment to a green future, we want to make sure that the most capable and committed candidates from Low and Lower Middle Income Countries. We are hereby offering two fully funded Jusoor-Exeter Scholarships for Masters level study in the Faculty of Environment, Science and Economy – open to Syrian and Palestinian-Syrian applicants who reside in Egypt, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon and Jordan

Eligibility Criteria for the Green Futures’ Postgraduate Taught Scholarships

You are capable of making an application for one of this awards if you:

  • Are a citizen/passport holder of a Low or Lower Middle Income Country (eligible countries appear in the first three columns);
  • Are Syrian (including Palestinian with Syrian Travel Document), have lived continuously in Syria prior to the current crisis, and be currently living in Syria or one of its neighbouring countries (Lebanon, Jordan, Turkey, Iraq, Egypt)
  • Apply to study an eligible Masters degree at the University of Exeter, via the University’s online application process
  •  Demonstrate academic merit by being offered admission for September 2024 by the University, and fulfilling any admission conditions set by the University
  • not already have a Masters degree
  • require financial support in order to take up the offer of admission
  • show intent to contribute to the redevelopment of Syria
  • have a strong record of leadership and community engagement, as demonstrated through volunteer and/or work experience
  • be willing to remain engaged with Jusoor’s community.

How can I apply? To be considered for one of the applicants for this scholarships, once you have your offer, please apply using the form here

A personal statement is required (500 word maximum) as part of the form, responding to the questions:

  • How have you helped others in the last two years? Your answer may include service to your family, friends, school, or community, as well as to an NGO or a charity (please provide dates, locations, and hours contributed per week as relevant)
  • What is your interest in your chosen programme of study and how is this relevant to a Green Future in your home country?
  • What are you hoping to gain and to contribute during your study at the University of Exeter and how will a Green Futures Scholarship support this?
  • How would you make the most of your experience as a Jusoor-Exeter scholar and serve as an ambassador for this scholarship initiative?What are your ambitions for after you graduate and how will you stay connected to the University of Exeter?

More on the Green Futures’ Postgraduate Taught Scholarships Application process

An interview stage will be included in the selection process, with scholarship board members from both the University and Jusoor. Candidates will be notified of the final outcome of their scholarship application.

To receive the scholarship following enrolment, the successful candidates will be required to sign the Jusoor Scholar contract. The main points of the contract are outlined below, and selected scholars can request to read the contract in full before accepting the award. The awardee agrees:

  • To give Jusoor permission to use their name, photographs and biographies on Jusoor’s website, social media and in publications.
  • To make efforts to attend online and in-person events when requested by Jusoor.
  • To submit a form provided by Jusoor each term to provide academic updates.
  • To agree that to the best of their ability, they will use the knowledge and skills gained through this scholarship to support the development of Syria.
  • To maintain good academic standing.
  • Not to serve as an official representative of any government and not to engage in activities of public nature that are likely to affect Jusoor negatively, while receiving funding from Jusoor.
